Teacher In Residence Program

The Teacher-In-Residence (“TIR”) Training Program is a direct instruction, peer-mentor led, and academic program designed by CERCLE to increase the number of high-quality, college-educated, and experienced individuals seeking employment as an Early Childhood Education Professional.

Working together with community organizations, CERCLE recruits candidates in our 12-month apprenticeship. We develop new candidate and existing staff, providing with dedicated peer mentoring, professional development and certification, and contextualize learning.

Graduates are eligible for externships and full-time positions with one of CERCLE’s 80+ member locations in Greater New Haven and Bridgeport.

Learn

Acquire knowledge and skills in lesson planning and implementation, observing and assessing student learning, and correlate teaching to CT Early Learning Standards.

Practice

Full-time internship at NAEYC-accredited, training site. Contextualized learning helps candidates connect academic instruction with their work in the classroom while observing best practices of and receiving guidance from experienced teachers.

Perform

Full-time employment and externships at one of CERCLE’s licensed member Early Childhood Education centers, group homes or Family Child Care Home Provider.
